Full external cleaning of granite facade to societe generale headquarters
Tower Hill, London
Richmond Borough Council
14 Weeks – Summer 2012
This building façade had been neglected for a number of years and had suffered from a leeching of the solvent from the mastic jointing compound used to fill the gaps between the granite fascia panels. The cost of scaffolding the entire building would have been prohibitive so we were approached by our client to use cradle access coupled with our specialist vacuum steam cleaning process that we had developed on a previous contract. A mild detergent was scrubbed into the granite surface and then rinsed off using the vacuum steam process.
This system washes the surface with high pressure steam jets and vacuum recovers the residues so eliminating the need to protect the public below. All the waste products from the cleaning process were pumped to tanks on the ground floor which were emptied by a waste disposal company ensuring no contaminants went into the surface drainage.
